Clifford M. Earl, 57, of 1608 Fremont St., was pronounced dead on arrival at Culver Hospital shortly after 11 a.m. Tuesday. The 1960 Ford pick-up truck which Earl was driving went out of control and scratched the right rear bumper of a 1962 Chevrolet being driven north by James R. Jones, 30, of 801 E. Franklin St. Jones was not injured and the car sustained only minor damage. The pick-up truck was not damaged. Earl was born in Crawfordsville on Feb. 14, 1909, to Charles and Daisy Mount Earl and was graduated from Crawfordsville High School. He was married in 1940 to Vanessa Day. He was employed by the Montgomery Beverage Co. and was a past worthy president of the local Eagles lodge. Surviving besides his wife are two brothers, Robert of Ft. Wayne and Harold of Indianapolis, and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Hunt & Sons Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Oak Hill Cemetery.
